Problem

Problem

Residents feel disconnected and unheard by local authorities, leading to frustration and disengagement.
They often don’t know how or where to report issues, lack visibility into how their input is handled, and prefer anonymity due to fear of unwanted attention. As a result, meaningful communication is hindered, issue reporting becomes tedious, and opportunities for collaborative, sustainable community improvements are missed.

Solution

Solution

An all-in-one community engagement platform that streamlines communication between residents and local authorities.
By integrating all reporting and feedback channels into a single, user-friendly interface, the platform eliminates confusion and inefficiencies. It enables quick data processing and real-time visualisation of community input, ensuring transparency, faster responses, and more purposeful, informed decision-making.

Mixed Methods Research

Mixed Methods Research

We conducted survey with 10 users who fall in our target demographic

User Personas

Next, we used the information gathered so far to outline our user personas

Sketching Initial Designs

Sketching Initial Designs

After mapping out the key user flows and establishing the information architecture, we began with rough paper sketches to explore ideas quickly. These were then refined into annotated low-fidelity digital wireframes to define structure and functionality more clearly.

Final Designs

Final Designs

Following stakeholder workshops and quick guerrilla testing, we gathered valuable feedback that informed several design iterations. The insights helped validate key decisions and refine the user experience, leading to the final high-fidelity designs shown below—balancing usability, clarity, and stakeholder goals.

Impact

Impact

Originally launched as a citizen engagement platform, WeSolve has expanded into open innovation, employee engagement, and housing participation. Its impact is evident in projects like Inclusify in Barcelona, where over 800,000 women were empowered to report mobility challenges via the AMB travel app—already used by more than 200,000 active users. In Logroño, Spain, the platform supported a sustainable mobility initiative that reached over 150,000 citizens. With strong mobile uptake in cities like Copenhagen and Kolding, and a proven ability to streamline participation and deliver real-time insights, WeSolve has strengthened community trust and driven measurable improvements in civic engagement.

Conclusion

Conclusion

As the Lead UX/UI Designer on WeSolve, I played a pivotal role in transforming the platform from a citizen engagement tool into a multi-purpose solution supporting open innovation, housing, and employee collaboration. I led the creation of core user journeys, information architecture, and a modular design system to ensure scalability and usability. My work spanned user flow design, visual prototyping, and leading qualitative research and usability testing across cities in Europe. This contributed to the successful mobile app launch in Copenhagen and Kolding, and increased user retention in Logroño and Jelgava through gamification and tailored engagement. Most notably, I led UX for the Inclusify project in Barcelona, enabling over 800,000 women to report mobility issues through the AMB travel app (with 200K+ active users), directly supporting inclusive urban mobility and gender empowerment.
